How do you (personally and/or professionally) support entrepreneurship in VT?
The Community Development and Applied Economics Department at the University of Vermont offers an undergraduate major and minor in community entrepreneurship. Courses offer hands-on training in entrepreneurship for the public good.
How are you or your organization changing or responding to these new and unusual economic times?
We are looking for increasing ways to make classroom experience relevant to the current climate and to empower students to become successful entrepreneurs in their communities, contributing to what holds communities together in economic hard times- strong local economies.
What else would you like others on this site to know about you or your organization?
Our department encourages internships and also partners students with enterprises through service-learning courses. If any prospective entrepreneurs are interested in these opportunities to assist students in learning and possibly get a little extra support themselves, please let me know. CDAE also is affiliated with the student-operated Vermont products store Growing Vermont, located in the Davis Student Center.
